Pictures In A Grand Old Gallery...

Some recent pictures from our wee world...

Hello! Just a quick wee post I'm afraid as I have two hungry kitties at my side needing dinner and I need to fix myself something too! I meant to do this post a while ago but never mind! I have just been too busy to blog!  Most of my readers aren't from Scotland so it's not like you would go anyway but I thought I would blog about it none the less!

I was chosen as a contemporary Scottish artist to have two of my pictures in the RSA yearly open exhibition!  An exhibition apparently really hard to get into! But not only that but I sold both the pictures, which is apparently hard to do too! woo! So I was going to blog about it in time for you to see it if you were near Edinburgh or so happened to see the exhibition you would know my pictures were in there... But hey-ho it opened on the 12th of November and closed today, Sunday the 18th of December!  How bad a blogger am I?

You can always view my photography on my website www.zoewinters.net and I promise next time I will let the world know about my next exhibition adventures in advance, when ever that may be!

I will be back with another post much sooner! For now though I better go and attend to these wee cat shaped monsters! ^..^  x

Down By The Water...

Some recent pictures from our wee world... (click to enlarge!)

Thank you all again for your sweet words!  Mark and I have been escaping for walks in our wellies whenever we can, it's amazing being able to walk through anything!  Mud, water, swampy marsh land!  Nae bother in a pair of wellies!  Haha!

It has been six years since Mark and I became girlfriend and boyfriend!  He asked me to be his girl over a text message one night after we had hung out during the day...  I texted back with my reply saying that I'd love to, all excitedly, but I heard nothing back from him until the following morning!  He says he was so nervous I was going to say no and that I just wanted to be friends that he couldn't face getting my reply, so he turned his phone off and put it under his pillow!  So I was sitting in bed, waiting for a response text all night haha!  We have been through a lot since then, together and as individuals... wonderful things and nightmare things... I just know that he manages to make me happy when everything else seems to be gravely sorrowful and he makes me foolishly happy when things are kindly!  I hope I do the same for him!  I hate it when the day has shown ghastly tortures to him!  I don't want him to have any troubles at all!  He deserves nothing but the best!  I hope we have more foolishly happy moments than any other kind from now on!

We just got our fruit and vegetable box delivered and it looks sooooo yummy I want to devour it all!!!  I can't wait for him to get here so we can make something incredible together!  x

A wee escape to the hut...

Some recent pictures from my wee world... (click to enlarge)

Thank you for sweet words!  I have recovered a wee bit from my ordeal.  I get down about the people and animals worse off than me (I'm no rich in the slightest, i mean being murdered and the world getting destroyed by man...heavy now...) but things have been tough in my wee world, but as I quoted last time, Bob Dylan's granny saying that everyone is going through hard things and I do appreciate that!  And I don't wish to linger in the gutter of my mind, I want to climb to great heights!  I can not help others if I am not strong and healthy in body and mind!  So my mission is to become superhuman! My wee mither took me away to have some nice recovery time by the sea at her friend's 'hut', she was staying there with her/our cat friend.  I try and not be a jealous person but I wish I lived by the sea!  A council estate is so grey and lifeless in comparison!  One day!  Anyhoo, Just two days saw stormy weather to glorious sunshine!  Of course, continuously freezing!  Scotland in October!  I read (Oh Sweet John Muir!), I took some pictures, bird watched, ate mama's cooking, spied at life in rock pools, played with the cat, and I wrote a little spraff...

The houses, fields, woods and steeples of the  coastline across the sea whispered between a layer of misty white.  The spray of the waves, crashing forwards, a mass of bright jagged arms racing with each gust of wind in the bitterly cold dark dreary blue.  Before long my tiny cold hands were wet from the spray crashing against the rocks, where i sat on my side of the water, and I could no longer hold onto the binoculars for fear of each finger snapping off from the baltic weather of my homeland. Hard to see the birds in such unforgiving winds, my long hair blinding me, single threads being twisted together and hurled around, constantly thrust stingingly into my eyes and gagingly into my mouth!  I curse my morning self for not tying Braids! The odd wader brave to bear the sea's wicked temper, blowing around like a sma wee feather!  I gaze at the rock with it's glittering of birds surround, the lighthouse and glistening white, holding onto my hat.  The pools I sit by hide worlds of sma.  I spy a wee hermit, fish, crab and sea anenomie in seaweeds tangled and caught on the barnacles and harsh rough but smooth battered surface.  The sma water forests so alien, black spider trees and deepest hearts maroon and green lasagna slithers shadow other creatures and wee skeletons.  A walk up across the moving sweeping sands, like spirits whirling towards the house. In for some tea and freshly baked scones and for the night's fire, lay out to dry our collection of twigs and wee logs.

Enjoy your weekend! x

Sleep that knits up the ravell'd sleeve of care

Some recent pictures from our wee world...

On a long winded bus journey I read Bob Dylan's words from his Grandmother, "Happiness isn't on the road to anything. Happiness is the road" and "Be kind because everyone you'll ever meet is fighting a hard battle." These ring true and it is something I wish everyone would always contemplate when in a self-absorbed fit of anger or depression or even when feeling on top of the world... What wonderful quotes!

And the above title rings true too, thanks to my mither and Shakespeare for that one!  I have had trouble sleeping but last night had the most wonderful long sleep and ach did I have vivid dreams! I sketched a few things and maybe have found a key to help me get back on my old track with my photography projects which have dwindled and have been on pause for way too long now...

I have a very stressful thing in my personal life going on (which I do not wish to blog about!) along with a much feared event approaching that tangles me on the inside.... but only a few more tormenting days left... after that I hope that I can rebuild my brain a little and get back on the track I wish to be on!

These pictures are of a lovely place we cycle along near our home. It used to be a railway track and this old shelter was hidden for so long under lush greens! There are men in florescent coats measuring the place with instruments and things and I hope it will not get torn down! We thought we better picture it on one of our cycles, so we did!  And I share but a few!

Here's hoping for another good night's sleep tonight for me and of course for you too! x

Hidden From The Drumming Rain...

Some recent pictures from my wee world...

I remember as a child walking through giant dark rooms with towering tall ceilings,  room after room, row after row of old wooden cabinets filled with taxidermy animals.  Some displayed in scenes and others placed together in categories, like the row after row of beetles and butterflies... Doors that got us lost into staircases with red velvet and gold coverings... Fish swimming in rectangles filled with copper coins... but mostly the cabinets, the beautiful big old cabinets...

Things have changed...

Our visit to the newly renovated National Museum of Scotland was pretty bitter sweet! Maybe that is a tad over dramatic but A smudge bitter in terms of missing my romanticized memories, and my inability to appreciate modern design or interactive play exhibits for children who lack attention spans!  But sweet in that the place looks beautiful, the Victorian design is just stunning and I loved just walking about the main hall looking up!  And I can not wait to look at the exhibits further... As Mark says, there is still more to see!  One day is not long enough!  Perhaps there is a hidden room full of old cabinets decorated with masses of taxidermy! haha!

Black Velvet, Posies And A Man Called Key...

Some recent pictures from my wee world...

The Edinburgh Festival has started! And a while ago, when we had the funds we decided we should go to something this year so booked in advance! And so we went to see Tim Key and his beautiful poetry last Friday night! I have to say, it has been about 6 or 7 months since I actually properly went out-out to anything due to my knee injury and other things and so, this was a truly lovely evening with my fella.

And boy does this man bring warm smiles to my face...

Lighthouse, Water Lilies & Walking Myself Better...

Some recent pictures from my wee world...

Knee is much stronger after all the physio and exercise I have been doing!  The lighthouse and lily pictures are from when I was up north with my brother and dad a few weeks ago.  It was so beautiful to visit, I can not wait to go back!  Meanwhile we try to savor the little Scottish summer inbetween storms and grey by walking in the fresh air looking at all the natural wonders around... Enjoy your week! x

Highlands and Islands

Some recent pictures from my wee world...

I spent some time up North in the Highlands with my dad and brother, something I haven't done in ages.  Scotland is beautiful!  Unable to run up mountains yet it was nice to go exploring where all the mad wee roads went to and we saw some beautiful breath-taking views which I can not wait to go back to for some snap happy times! I have a niggling urge to move...

p.s. thank you so much to those that have made purchases!  Made my weekend!

Please Welcome Sunshine!

Like my first and future collections, I am basically a mad collector of things and need to sell a huge chunk of it!  As a photographer I buy and hold onto props and outfits for too long and as a vintage clothes lover I go a little crazy sometimes!  Even buying things in XL thinking I will alter them to my XS size, but I never do because I always take on way too many projects at the one time... But alas, my fella and I are trying to save for a motorhome to travel and make art in... (oh yeah!  Dream life!) And I also just need to earn some money to live off!!!  So what better way than to sell all my things?!!!

I wish I was fighting fit and healthy... faster than my current snail's pace!

Have a great start to your week! x
